Speak launched first in South Korea where we have quickly grown to become the top grossing education app in the country. We have now delivered this winning product to more than 40 countries globally and are continuing to expand to more markets in the coming months. The company is well funded, and as of December 2024, we've reached a $1B valuation with our Series C round, through key partners like Accel, OpenAI, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, Khosla Ventures, Lachy Groom, Josh Buckley, and more. We're a team of more than 90 based throughout San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Ljubljana.

About this role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive QA Analyst to join our Quality Assurance team. You will design and execute test plans, identify defects, analyze QA metrics, and collaborate with development and product teams to ensure reliable, user-friendly solutions. The ideal candidate excels in hands-on testing, demonstrates attention to detail, understands QA methodologies, and drives continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

What you'll be doing

As a QA Analyst at Speak, your responsibilities will include :

Test Planning and Execution :

Analyze requirements and specifications to develop effective test strategies.

Design, execute, and maintain test plans and cases for comprehensive coverage.

Conduct functional, regression, performance, analytics, and design testing.

Document and track defects using Test Management System and tools like Linear and Notion.

Leading by example :

Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to resolve issues pre-release.

Mentor QA team members to support skill development and nurture a quality-driven culture.

Evaluate test plans and assign tasks based on project priorities.

Assist outsourcing teams with test planning and operations.

Consistently optimizing :

Maintain comprehensive documentation of testing activities, test cases, and reports.

Work with Engineers and Product teams to identify challenges and improve QA workflows.

Facilitate the adoption of automation tools to streamline testing and enhance efficiency.

Maintain quality metrics to measure and drive the QA team's performance and success.

What we're looking for

3 years of experience in user-facing software testing (mobile and web application)

Exceptional attention to detail in ensuring accuracy, identifying inconsistencies, and maintaining high-quality standards in testing.

Strong understanding of product development and release process as well as QA methodologies, tools, and frameworks.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high ownership to meet deadlines under pressure.

Experienced in cross-team collaboration, including distributed teams across multiple time zones, ensuring efficient communication and workflow alignment.

Basic writing and executing SQL queries for data validation and test case creation.

Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members.

You're able and willing to work from the SF HQ at least three days a week

Nice to have :

Experience in working with outsourced QA teams

Familiar with Test Automation processes and framework
