Environmental Services Technician
General Summary: Performs Hospital housekeeping/custodial duties by maintaining assigned area of the Hospital in a safe, clean, sanitary and orderly condition. Sign-on bonus $1,500.
Essential Job Functions:
• Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job.
• Demonstrates hospital’s stated mission and values of teamwork, respect and communication with co-workers, patients, families and visitors.
• Actively and appropriately participates in problem-solving identification and resolution, both intra- and inter-departmentally.
• Meets department customer service standards and strives to enhance the level of customer service provided.
• Cleans assigned areas using a variety of supplies, equipment and cleaning solutions in accordance with departmental standards, policies and procedures.
• Cleans, prepares and sets up patient rooms in a timely manner.
• Sets up certain equipment and devices as required by the nursing staff.
• Vacuums carpets, dusts, cleans windows, moves furniture in lobby and/or patient areas.
• Practices safe handling of infectious waste in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Cleans occupied and terminal precaution rooms as assigned, wearing appropriate protective clothing and following specialized procedures as established by Environmental Services Department.
• Prepares patient rooms upon discharge or transfer of patient by stripping bed of all linen and blankets, washing the bed thoroughly, making the bed with clean linen and blankets, and following Environmental Services Department standard procedures.
• Replenishes supplies such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc. in assigned area of Hospital.
• Stocks linen shelves and assures that clean linen is delivered to nursing units on carts. Collects and receives soiled linen and maintains appropriate stock of linen in assigned areas • Various other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Education
Required: High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred: Same
Work Experience
Required: Preferred: 1-3 years experience in Environmental Services
Other Skills/Knowledge
Required: Good interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to work independently to complete assigned duties.
Preferred: Previous environmental services experience in a healthcare setting.
