Position Summary :
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) plays a vital role in providing expert medical care to critically ill infants within our state-of-the-art NICU. This position requires a high level of clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of infants, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the medical team.
- Perform a wide range of medical procedures, including but not limited to :
Intubation and extubation
Central line placement and managementUmbilical artery and vein catheterizationPerforming and interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., ABGs, blood gases)Administering medications and blood productsMonitor infant's progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.Provide education and support to families regarding their infant's condition and care.Participate in rounds, conferences, and other educational activities.Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research activities.Qualifications :
Education : Master's Degree in Nursing with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialization.Certification : NNP-BC certification required.Experience : Minimum one (1) year of recent Neonate NP experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit OR recent completion of a Neonatal ICU Fellowship.Licensure / Certification :Current and active RN and NP licenses in California.
Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency.California driver's license (CDL) if required for the position.Current AHA BLS and NRP certifications.DEA license required within 90 days of employment.CMS Medicare and Medicaid enrollment required.Other :Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
