Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Hourly Homebound Special Education Teacher
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly, 4 per week (e.g. 1 hour 4 days a week or 2 hours 2 days a week). May meet at a neutral location, i.e. public library, or virtually...to be agreed upon by teacher, parents and student.
LOCATIONS: To be determined
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be an Arkansas Certified teacher.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Confer with the classroom teacher on a regular basis in coordinating the instructional programs, assignments and materials utilized and/or needed by each student.
- Establish and maintain communication with campus teachers, parents, students and Homebound/Hospital Program staff
- Teach mastery of skills in content area with the goal of returning the student to school.
- Meet and instruct assigned students in the location and at the time designated
- Implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment as assigned by the director.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
Hourly Rate $25.00 per hour
