Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Transition Coordinator, Job Coach will provide direct coaching and support to students with disabilities on job related skills and exploration in a variety of school and community vocational settings. Duties include direct monitoring and instruction of students in a variety of educational and community settings, collecting and maintaining data, collaboration with educational staff, implementation of behavioral and conflict resolution strategies, and follow-through with student IEP programming to ensure student safety and engagement in the work environment. Job coach may need to assist with mobility and/or personal care within the work environment. Confidentially of student information and programming must be maintained at all times. Ongoing training to support job coach development will be provided.  This training may go beyond the 20 hours of training per year that is required for all paraprofessionals.

• The job coach is responsible for managing all interactions and maintaining safety for the student
• Constantly monitor the relationship with external stakeholders to ensure satisfaction
• The job coach will deliver varied levels of training or intervention, depending on the student’s skillset
• The job coach needs to be aware of how to implement SDIs from the IEP
• The job coach will be working independently, within the educational environment and the community environment
• The job coach needs to be able to assess and react in a safe/calm orderly manner
• Conduct tasks analysis to identify entry points for the student
• The job coach will need to collect and analyze data to monitor their effectiveness
• The job coach will need to receive at least 20 hours of training each year to be considered highly qualified. The school district will provide specific training to the job coach.
• Assist with the development of new community-based job sites
• Assist with the implementation of the district’s internal onsite practical assessment exploration labs.

Job coaches may be asked to transport students via district van to community sites following appropriate training and skill assessment.
