Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for a participant in our day program. This part-time role involves working on Tuesdays and Thursdays to support a single client. The day program operates from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, excluding additional time for pick-up and drop-off, which will vary depending on the day’s activity location. A reliable vehicle, current insurance and registration, and a clean Motor Vehicle Record are required to transport the client safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- One-on-One Support: Provide individualized attention, ensuring the client’s safety, well-being, and engagement in activities.
- Community-Based Activities: Facilitate meaningful outings and activities tailored to the client’s interests and program goals.
- Transportation: Safely transport the client to and from activities, ensuring reliable and timely arrivals.
- Daily Living Assistance: Support the client with personal care, mobility, and other daily living activities as needed.
- Goal-Oriented Support: Assist the client in achieving personalized goals, such as developing skills and fostering independence.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed records of daily activities, progress toward goals, and any notable events.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the program team, the client’s family, and external providers as needed.
- Safety and Inclusion: Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for the client during all activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and adaptability.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record (required for transporting the client).
- Safe and reliable vehicle with current insurance (required).
- Clear background check (required)
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Client prefers working with female professionals due to negative past experiences.
Work Schedule:
- Part-time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, with potential for additional hours as the program expands
- Day program hours: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, excluding pick-up and drop-off times, which will depend on the day’s activity location.
