Job description
We have a 26-year-old girl with cerebral palsy. She is in a wheelchair so the job requires some lifting. Has a bubbly personality and loves to talk and do activities. She requires help with most aspects of her daily life. Like meal prep bathroom assistance and occasional bathing. We are looking for someone to work after school Monday-Friday 3-7 and have some availability on Saturdays from 1-7 once or twice a month. We occasionally go on weekend trips and ask people to stay overnight if they are willing. Summers are usually split between two staff members from 9-2 & 2-7. We try to have 3-4 caregivers at all times so days and times worked are shared. Number of days per week will 2-3. We try to accommodate our caregivers with the days and times that work best for them.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 -per week
Responsibilities
- Advocate for individuals with disabilities by ensuring their rights are upheld and their voices are heard.
- Collaborate with the family
- Provide direct support to client, assisting her in daily activities and promoting independence.
- Monitor patient conditions through regular observation and assessment, reporting any changes or concerns to family
- Assist in medication administration as required, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Facilitate access to resources and services that enhance the quality of life for client.
- Conduct training session, complete employment packet
- Engage in heavy lifting tasks when necessary to support clients with mobility challenges.
- Meal preperation. Some cleaning, bedtime preparation.
- Bathing
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of social work principles and practices
- Proficiency in patient monitoring techniques and documentation practices.
- Certification in first aid is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with direct support roles, including lifting when necessary.
