Position Summary:
Special Olympics is currently seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual to manage and support signature college events and administration. This position will support the growth of Special Olympics college programming within Unified Champion Schools in North America. This is a paid position, ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about event management, possesses excellent organizational skills, and values effective communication. The role will collaborate primarily with the Special Olympics North America (SONA) team and Special Olympics Programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage planning and logistics for Unified College Championship Week
- Support national Unified Sports competitions for Unified college teams through NIRSA Championship Series tournament administration, communications, and create informational materials
- Organize and build informational tools for Programs about NIRSA regional and national conferences and championships
- Coordinate exhibiting booths and Unified Sports demonstrations at college level partner events
- Support and contribute to national Special Olympics College Club leader meetings
- Manage college interest forms, connecting leads to Special Olympics Programs
- Organize newsletter content and college contact lists
- Travel up to 10% to SONA events/meetings, SO Programs site visits, and partner organization events/conferences
Required Qualifications:
- Education, professional, or volunteer experience in related field
- Experience in event planning, coordination, and working with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Effective team player and has a high drive for independent work
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Interest in disability, inclusion, and education
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools®
- Experience with Special Olympics college programming
- Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities
- Experience with Canva, Smartsheet, Dropbox, or Google Drive
