The Opportunity:
The People Experience Coordinator will play a key role in shaping a supportive and engaging work environment for both employees and volunteers. This role is essential in managing the full employee and volunteer lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to engagement and retention, while also providing strategic support to the executive team. The People Experience Coordinator will champion initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture and support the mission and values of SOMI.

What You will Do:
- Serve as a central communication point between the leadership team, employees, and volunteers, ensuring consistent and transparent communication across the organization.
- Develop and implement internal communication strategies that keep employees informed and engaged with organizational updates, initiatives, and events.
- Draft and distribute regular communications, including organizational announcements, and policy updates.
- Ensure that communication efforts reflect the mission, vision, and values of SOMI, fostering alignment and unity across the organization.
- Draft, update, and maintain organizational policies and procedures in alignment with best practices, legal requirements, and SOMI’s mission.
- Ensure that all employees and volunteers are aware of and comply with the organization's policies, including those related to employee and volunteer conduct, workplace safety, and inclusion.
- Regularly review policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and effective, recommending updates as needed.
- Maintain an accessible and up-to-date handbook for employees and volunteers that outlines organizational policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Develop and implement onboarding programs that provide a welcoming and educational experience for new employees and volunteers.
- Ensure all new hires and volunteers have the tools, resources, and support to succeed from day one.
- Coordinate cross-departmental integration for employees and volunteers to foster collaboration.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to create strategies that boost engagement, satisfaction, and retention for both employees and volunteers.
- Support the planning and execution of internal events, workshops, and activities that promote a positive organizational culture.
- Develop and manage learning and development programs for employees and volunteers, focusing on enhancing skills and fostering growth.
- Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and mentorship opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide HR insights and data to the CEO to guide decision-making processes.
- Support the executive team in fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace for both employees and volunteers.

- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

- Proficiency with software/systems such as HRIS/learning management systems, volunteer management systems, employee engagement platforms, and related software.
- Planning and Organizing Ability to set priorities and allocate resources properly to effectively achieve work responsibilities and objectives.

- Ability to travel evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge and experience collaborating with persons with intellectual and physical disabilities helpful.

This position is in Grand Rapids Michigan at the Unified Sports and Inclusion Center.
