Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manufacturing Estimator to join our Sheet Metal Fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing fabrication requirements, developing accurate labor and material cost estimates, and ensuring projects are financially viable. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing departments, review project documentation (including CAD drawings and customer specs.), and help identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining accuracy in estimating. The Estimator will be key in supporting our organizational goals and ensuring customer satisfaction by providing reliable estimates and ensuring project execution.
In this role, your sheet metal and manufacturing skills will be critical to collaborate with the sales, purchasing and engineering teams to understand customer and project needs to develop accurate costs.
- Your primary responsibility will be to interpret project drawings and specifications, identify material specifications, and prepare precise cost estimates for sheet metal projects.
- You will engage with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather the necessary information to ensure your estimates are accurate.
- Being analytical and detail-oriented is crucial, as you will analyze project requirements, consider pricing options, and offer recommendations to optimize costs.
- Use of computer-aided design (CAD) software will be essential for creating detailed project layouts and collaborating with architects and engineers.
- Use of supplemental estimating software applications (e.g., Paperless Parts) will be essential for facilitating quotes.
- You’ll need to effectively communicate, report issues and collaborate with other team members to gather accurate information and ensure successful project outcomes.
- A customer-focused mindset is important, as you'll be tasked with delivering cost-effective solutions that meet client requirements.
- You’ll ensure that accurate records and documentation are maintained as well as analyzing data around tooling, service charges, minimum order quantities or minimum inventory quantities
- You’ll effectively manage multiple customers, projects and quotes to fulfill demand.
- Employee adherence to company and department policies, procedures and standards is tantamount for the success of the Estimator and the organization.
Qualifications:
- 3yrs minimum experience in a Precision Sheet Metal manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software for interpreting 3D models (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials and other written instructions or procedures.
- Basic knowledge of email and Windows OS and applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Time Management- Performs all necessary tasks in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of quality control and assurance practices in manufacturing environments.
- Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also vital for working effectively with project teams, suppliers, and clients.
