Reports direct to: Charleston Station Manager

Position: Salary/Exempt Starting at $52k with normal Company Benefits.
Hours: Monday to Friday, actual hours TBD - to run sometime between 8a.m. or to 5 p.m., or as the position requires.

General:
This is a supervisory position responsible for managing, coordinating and controlling all aspects of inbound/outbound and ‘on-hand’ cargo in the Charleston Terminal. It will have some specific account responsibility for major warehouse accounts.

You are required to oversee all operational warehouse activities including the regulatory and staffing functions described below:
Direct a safe and secure warehouse environment in full compliance with all regulatory agencies inclusive, TSA, CPB, C-TPAT, OSHA, DOL and others;
Ensure administration of effective warehouse business and operational practices in a fair and equitable manner, where all employees, customers, vendors and other third parties are treated with respect.
Ensure compliance with Company rules and regulations, Company standards including the Warehouse Employee Safety Manual, the Warehouse & Handling Safety Compliance Checklist, and all other external contractual agreements on handling.

Maintain and control all required aspects of the operation in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation;
Read, understand and clarify the implementation of the site-specific security plan;
Advise Corporate and the CHS Station Manager of any impending equipment/asset needs to support existing and new business, or issues which could adversely affect terminal’s ability to meet profitable customer/business execution in the warehouse.

Oversee warehouse staffing requirements and advise the CHS Station Manager on performance and needs;
Participate in the discipline, coaching, counseling, hiring and termination of subordinates;
Direct personnel within the assigned functional area;
Proactively monitor the work of assigned employees to ensure that customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality and employee relations meet or exceed standards;
Ensure that the required weekly Terminal audit requirements are undertaken to ensure continuity and compliance at all times, and;
Ensure efficient budgetary controls are maintained.
You will provide the CHS warehouse and linehaul clients with the highest level of service and support in order to retain their business grow their accounts.
You are also expected to help grow Linehaul business opportunities and ensure that this is transacted in a compliant and efficient manner. You will do this in conjunction with the VP Customer Solutions and CHS Station Manager.

Responsibilities:
Cargo warehousing, including receiving, dispatching and staging air freight and other cargo; supervise and participate in ocean container devanning or loading as well as cross docking operations. Oversee routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, equipment and facilities with or without powered equipment. Ensure all freight entering the facility where Special Service is the delivery or pick up agent is correctly weighed and ‘dimensionalized’, with any discrepancies reported on the paperwork and authorized immediately for correct shipping and extra billing with the customer/payer;
Ensure all freight entering the facility is checked for damage and, if found, written up and immediately reported to the shipper/customer;

Ensure proper build-up, break-down, storing and delivery of freight.
Review operational reports and resolve problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delivery and pick-up delays.
Inspect equipment to ensure specific operational and safety performance.
Perform daily warehouse inspections, and weekly (or more) OS&D inspections of all freight ‘on-hand’ against what is reported in the TMS, currently Crown Data;
Perform regular safety audits to ensure employee and equipment safety, and ensure all employees are always working in a safe and compliant fashion;
Resolve employees concerns and submit to manager for action, and;

Report and investigate all cargo damage claims for cause, responsibility, company response and payment to ensure correct load practices maintained, all inbound receiving to be marked up in a timely and correct manner, and ensure minimum claims made against the Company.

Required skills:
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;
Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
Able to interpret situational needs and communicate and direct subordinates in clear and efficient manner;
Able to lift up to 50 lbs;
Operate all warehouse equipment and hold necessary licensing where applicable;
Report to work on a regular and timely basis;
Perform all other skills necessary to effectively fulfil the specific responsibilities related to this position, and;
All other duties as required.
