Position: ASL Educational Interpreter
Supervisor: Director of Special Education
Summary:
Facilitate communication between the deaf/hard of hearing student and his/her peers, and school staff.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

- Assist in implementing intervention strategies to meet goals of the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Communicate information in an unbiased manner.
- Transliterate spoken English to signed English.
- Interpret spoken English into the language of the student.
- Interpret the language of the student into Standard English.
- Meet/plan with classroom teacher to familiarize him/her with language and concepts.
- Convey the social-emotional contents of the message through appropriate facial expressions and body language.
- Abide by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Code of Ethics.
Salary : $54,383 - $62,383
