As an SLPA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support the evaluation, treatment, and progress monitoring of students with communication disorders. Key Responsibilities:
- Therapeutic Support:
- Assist the supervising SLP in delivering direct speech and language therapy to individual students and small groups.
- Implement treatment plans and intervention strategies as directed, using approved techniques and materials.
- Provide one-on-one support during therapy sessions to reinforce skill development and monitor student progress.
- Documentation & Data Collection:
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, student progress, and observations, following confidentiality and school policies.
- Assist in the preparation of materials and reports required for the evaluation and ongoing assessment of students.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work collaboratively with the SLP, classroom teachers, and other related service providers to support students' communication goals.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding therapy sessions, progress, and strategies for reinforcement at home as directed by the SLP.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions to stay current on best practices in speech and language pathology.
- Administrative Support:
- Help organize and maintain therapy materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Coordinate scheduling of therapy sessions and manage student records in compliance with school regulations and state confidentiality standards.
