Position: Test Technician
Department: Production
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Location: South Windsor, Connecticut
JOB SUMMARY
Conduct electro-mechanical system testing to ensure adherence to performance and quality standards prior to shipment. Perform repair estimates on current and legacy equipment utilizing root cause driven problem solving.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform system integration, validation and testing of all finished product prior to shipment
- Ability to analytically diagnose and estimate customer machines requiring repair
- Responsible for the quality of work and utilizes familiarity with inspection and other quality assurance techniques to inspect work.
- Provide detailed feedback on how to address quality/performance issues identified during testing
- Use electrical test equipment to troubleshoot electrical circuitry.
- Works closely with engineering to test products (by hand, mechanically or electrically), diagnose, and resolve problems that occur during assembly and repair.
- Capable of following and providing feedback on written procedures and test plans
- Ability to operate material handling devices such as overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Customer service support for walk-in requests for support of standard and custom products
- Handles stress in a professional manner, demonstrates the ability to get along with others, demonstrates successful attendance and punctuality, and works overtime / extra hours as required to meet business needs.
- May occasionally travel
- Other duties as required.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry training and experience, or combination of both required
- 2 or more years of Electrical troubleshooting skills to including wiring, ac/dc power, motors, electrical drawings/schematics, and control panels required
- GD&T experience desired. Machine tool knowledge and skills required.
- Advanced knowledge of welding processes, machining processes, control panel wiring and coding preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with sensors: temperature, flow, pressure, voltage, current and others related to industrial manufacturing machinery preferred
- Experience in GTAW/GMAW/FCAW welding applications knowledge preferred
- Previous experience with auto mechanical work, professionally or hobbyist, is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels.
To meet customer requirements, the employee may be asked to travel in an airplane and/or vehicle to get to customer work sites. At times, this position walks on or through high elevations, underground and/or confined spaces, around high voltage and in heavy industrial and/or construction work environments such as bridges, dams, mines, power plants, shipyards, etc. The employee must be able to work in hazardous working environments with possible extreme working conditions to complete customer training and/or applications support.
Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and usage is driven by customer requirements. Other required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses. Customer working environments can be extreme in regards to height, confined space, physical requirements and hazards.
