Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Administrative Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional support to both patients and healthcare professionals. This position requires proficiency in various administrative tasks, including medical billing, intakes and verifying insurance information. The position is varied in its job duties and may include marketing, writing and editing blog articles, social media postings, claims follow up, revenue cycle management and much more as you will grow within this role and potentially can move into a supervisory position.
Duties
- Manage patient appointments and scheduling efficiently to optimize clinic workflow.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process medical billing and coding using ICD-10 standards.
- Conduct insurance verification to confirm patient coverage and benefits.
- Assist in the development and management of care plans for patients.
- Utilize electronic health record systems for data entry and retrieval.
- Having prior mental health practice setting experience is a major plus.
- Speaking English and Spanish will be helpful during intakes.
- Assist with payment data entry.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure effective communication regarding patient care.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is a definite job requirement
- You must be highly experienced with medical billing and claims follow up.
- Experience generating patient bills based on insurance payments etc...
- Familiarity with medical billing processes and insurance verification is a job requirement.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding is essential for this role.
- Experience working in a mental health setting is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for success in this position.
- Be familiar with and able to work in a team environment.
- Be trained on various job functions
- Have the ability to drive yourself in between offices to provide coverage.
- Have very good experience with Excel, Word, billing software and to some degree MS access
- Be very organized and detail oriented.
- Be able to work some evenings without notice.
