Description
Job Summary
The Research & Development Associate is responsible for working with the R D Manager to research and develop new products and processes for the Company, working with a larger team whose focus is to drive new product innovation and develop solutions to customer and quality concerns.
Reporting relationships:
- Directly supervised by the R D Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform R D trails for current and potential new products, working with other departments to complete them as necessary
- Assist in resolving customer complaints
- Participate in sensory surveys for new and existing products
- Develop new products
- Perform research into maximizing yields through plant trials without compromising product quality
- Maintain accurate records of all testing and processes
- As needed, perform Manual Quality tests
- As needed, perform research into improving quality of current products
- As needed, work with operations to develop their written procedures for equipment operation.
- Other Tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or equivalent job experience required
- Employee may be required to take internal or external training or additional education, as required by the company
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience working in the field of Research and Development for food products preferred
- Any experience in the operations field of the dairy industry strongly preferred
Licensure Requirements
- None
- Employee may be requested to obtain Cheesemaker’s license or equivalent education, provided by the employer
Physical Requirements:
- This position is performed both seated and standing. The employee may be occasionally required to lift objects which weigh no more than 50 lbs.
- In the normal course of the job, the employee is not regularly exposed to any major or recognized health hazards. However, there will be times where the employee may be required to enter manufacturing areas of the factory and construction zones therein where they may be exposed to major or recognized hazards. This employee shall receive both food safety and employee safety training before entering any of these areas.
- This position is performed in an environment where slips, trips and falls may be a hazard. Employee will be required to maintain adequate footwear provided by the company.
