GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Coating Operator operates parylene deposition systems to coat customer-supplied parts according to specific processes and Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSPs). Operates other equipment such as vacuum ovens, plasma etchers, tumble coaters and other machines. Performs refurbishing and light maintenance on equipment. Coordinates loading of machines and coating activities to ensure a smooth flow of work to and from the masking area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows process instructions, Manufacturing Standard Procedures (MSP’s) and verbal instructions from the Plant Manager, Coating Center Manager, Production supervisor or designee.
- Loads machines, monitors process equipment during run, and verifies coating thickness using various measurement devices and tools.
- Independently operates all machines connected with the adhesion promotion and parylene deposition process.
- Calculates the proper amount of parylene dimer to be used to achieve process specified thickness.
- Monitors chemical baths, verifying the correct solution formulas and chemical balance, corrects the balance if out of specifications and discards used bath solutions safely.
- Performs general equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to define equipment malfunction and/or repair. This may include replacing ball valves, thermocouples, fuses and rotary unit seals.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2 years machine operating experience preferred.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
- High degree of manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems
