Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality dental hygiene care to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding of dental procedures. This role requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment while adhering to all health regulations and protocols.
Duties
- Conduct thorough dental cleanings and examinations, including many perio maintenance patients- scaling and polishing teeth.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, including proper brushing and flossing techniques.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
- Assist in the assessment of patient oral health, including the identification of potential issues.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with dentists to provide comprehensive care for patients, including assisting during procedures when necessary.
- Ensure all dental instruments are sterilized and prepared according to aseptic techniques.
- Stay updated on advancements in dental hygiene practices and participate in continuing education.
Skills
- Proficiency in using Dentrix or similar dental practice management software.
- Knowledge of medical coding, dental terminology, and medical terminology relevant to patient care.
- Familiarity with general dentistry practices as well as pediatric dentistry techniques.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their oral health.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment in a busy dental clinic setting.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining patient records and documentation.
