Specialty Drone Solutions is seeking a dedicated and reliable Drone Application Technician to join our growing team. This position involves operating agricultural drones to apply pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other inputs safely and efficiently. Technicians will also assist with on-site prep, equipment maintenance, and recordkeeping.

General Purpose & Scope
We are hiring a UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) Drone Pilot to perform precise, on-site agricultural applications across farms, orchards, and specialty crops. The role focuses on safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer application using heavy-lift drones. You’ll work directly with growers, field managers, and applicators to meet seasonal application needs and ensure top-tier results.
We will assist the right candidates in obtaining the required licenses (FAA Part 107, QAL, APC/JPC if needed).
Key Skills and Abilities
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (or willingness to obtain — we provide support)
- Ability to qualify for FAA Class III Medical Certificate (optional but preferred)
- Experience operating drones (agricultural UAS preferred but not required)
- Understanding of crop inputs and basic agricultural practices
- Preferred: California QAL or ability to obtain one (we’ll help)
- Preferred: California DPR Apprentice (APC) or Journeyman Pilot (JPC) certification

- Self-starter who can adapt to changing conditions in the field

- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Comfortable towing a trailer
- Flexible schedule — available early mornings, evenings, and weekends when needed
Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
- Operate spray drones in compliance with FAA, DPR, and company protocols
- Perform pre-flight inspections and conduct mission planning for each job site
- Handle, mix, and load ag chemicals per label instructions and safety standards
- Execute applications based on work orders, field boundaries, and crop requirements
- Maintain and troubleshoot UAS and spray system components
- Monitor field, crop, and weather conditions to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Maintain accurate records of flight logs, chemical usage, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with management to refine and improve drone application protocols
- Stay current on drone technology, agricultural application practices, and regulations
