As a Quality Control Inspector and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all machined and fabricated components conform to specified drawings, standards, and contractual obligations. Your responsibilities will involve close collaboration with production leaders, fellow inspectors, and the Quality Manager to maintain the highest quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fit-up and layout inspections of in-process machined and fabricated items according to applicable drawings, specifications, and traveler/work order requirements.
- Execute final dimensional inspections on completed machined and fabricated items in alignment with the relevant drawings and specifications.
- Perform Faro Arm inspections on machined components as necessary.
- Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Facilitate third-party inspections when required.
- Generate detailed inspection reports, feature/weld maps, and as-built drawings in accordance with work order specifications.
- Maintain regular communication with the Quality Manager and fabrication teams to address quality non-conformance issues proactively.
- Ensure that inspection equipment is properly calibrated and operational.
- Keep accurate welder continuity logs.
- Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proficient in blueprint interpretation and geometric principles.
- Familiarity with Faro Arm inspection techniques is preferred.
- AWS CWI certification is mandatory.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel for report generation.
- Capability to utilize both metric and imperial measurement systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience in quality inspection or a related field is preferred.
