Job description
Specialty Fabrication LLC is seeking an experienced estimator/project manager that is fully capable of working with customers, performing material takeoffs, labor estimates and managing multiple projects simultaneously. This person must have a good understanding of metal fabrication, forming, machining, welding, cutting, etc. This position requires you to prepare and finalize machining and fabrication estimates based on client RFQs. Estimates are to be prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
Job functions
· Personally communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers in person, over the phone and email while maintaining best possible working relationship between Specialty Fabrication LLC and our clients, vendors, and suppliers.
· Prepare budgetary or conceptual estimates and execute detailed project costs based on historical data and by reading and interpreting client drawings and blueprints.
· Develop labor hour strategies for the most cost-effective way to approach the work (consult with the shop in some cases)
· Determine what, if any, portions of the estimate shall be subcontracted; analyze subcontractor quotes for completeness and accuracy.
· Communicate fully with quality manager on quality requirements for quotes.
· Secure pricing for all material required with the best possible yield and lowest scrap.
· Review details of estimate with operations and advise if there are any delivery obstacles in meeting customer required ship date.
· After jobs are awarded, set up kickoff meetings and work closely with production to get the job moved through the shop as efficiently as possible.
· Ensure all customer pricing and quote information is stored appropriately, update or revise quote as required.
· Responsible for creating and meeting deadlines; budgets and resources in addition to communicating all deliverables of projects to the internal team and to the client.
Required skills qualifications
· Excellent communication skills.
· Fabrication experience that includes knowledge of layout, fabrication, welding, finishing and assembly.
· Proficient in reading of blueprints
· Ability to call customers and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
· Ability to use common measuring tools (tape measure, Level, angle finder)
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
· Ability to navigate all the standard Microsoft products like WORD/EXCEL/OUTLOOK, etc.
· Ability to multitask and keep focused on all jobs to ensure timelines, expectations and quality is exceeded beyond measure.
· Maintain a highly detailed, organized work ethic that can focus on the small and large details of the project.
Experience
· Manufacturing/fabrication environment: 5 years minimum
· Estimating: 1 year (preferred)
· Blueprint reading: 2 years (preferred)
· Machining: 1 year (preferred)
· 2D or 3D CAD modeling experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
