Summary:
Our Retail Sales Development Training Program is an entry level processed meats sales position that offers exceptional hands-on experience.
The program duration can last up to a year. The Trainee will be spending up to a month at all facilities which include IPC, SFG, and QSI. In addition, the Trainee will train in the field with other sales team members gaining a solid understanding of our operations and our business through direct observation and shadowing. The individual will be a sales team member; rotation assignments through several areas is necessary to gain a thorough understanding of the business. After initial training, the individual will be assigned to work with the sales team. Being successful as a sales team member will open opportunities for career growth in all facets of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Accountability for growing knowledge of operations and sales responsibilities
- Required 50% travel for position.
- Build and enhance relationships with assigned customers and key targets.
- Primary contact for designated accounts, and responsible for resolving issues related to price, products, inventory deliveries, and potential quality concerns.
- Negotiate daily offerings with the expectation that they meet or exceed corporate performance targets.
- Organize and deliver daily pricelists.
- Order entry and evaluation to ensure accuracy across product pricing and availability.
- Evaluation of total deliveries across designated region to ensure truckload weights are maximized for efficiency.
- Utilize product knowledge to generate sales while maximizing return to the company.
- Identifying customer needs and matching current product portfolio to said needs.
- Potential development of new accounts within designated market segment.
- Work closely with internal operations; marketing, operations, quality assurance, demand planning, etc. to align customer demands with internal capabilities.
- Foster strong communications both internally and externally, ensuring they receive vital information in a timely manner.
- Perform other tasks or duties as required or needed.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing or related field preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Effective public speaking/presentation skills as well as excellent written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with and knowledge of Retail Food Sales preferred.
- Knowledge of industry of networks that make up the national pipeline.
- Ability to formulate accurate sales quotes to ensure maximum profitability.
- Proficient in pork commodity market evaluation, relative meaning in current marketplace, and how to apply in direct sales conversations.
- Knowledge of industry related products and relative production process.
- Ability to lead by example and follow company policies and ethical standards.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must have independent and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel unrestricted or on short notice.
- Upon completing the training program, the trainee will be evaluated by the Senior Sales Director, HR, Senior Leadership team to determine if they meet the necessary qualifications. If the trainee does not meet these qualifications, the evaluation team will reassess their position and reassign them to another role if available.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment requiring ability to sit, talk, hear, frequent walking, standing, and sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Ability to use standard office equipment such as telephone, computer, and copier.
