What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice Branch Director position at Specialty Hospice?
Branch Director - Amazing opportunity for an RN who resides in MS and preferably lives in any of the following counties: Jefferson, Claiborne, Adams, Warren, Lincoln or Copiah. Specialty Hospice has its primary office in Vicksburg. The desired RN candidate preferably has hospice or home health experience but it is not a must.
Branch Director, must be a Registered Nurse, oversees all day-to-day agency operations, including clinical management, team leadership, fiscal oversight related to clinical operations and staffing. The Branch Director supervise all aspects of patient care, activities of professional staff and agency health personnel, and is responsible for compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements. The branch director shall be on site or immediately available to be on site, at all times during operating hours.
Qualifications:
- Have a college degree with three years of healthcare service relevant to managing the day –to-day operations of a health care organization.
- A registered nurse who is currently licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi.
- Three-years experience as a registered nurse.
- One year of full-time experience providing direct patient care in hospice, home-health, or oncology setting: or
- One-year management of patient care staff in an acute care setting, hospice or home health
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for compliance with all regulations, laws, policies and procedures applicable to hospice specifically related Medicare/Medicaid issues when applicable.
- Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the Hospice.
- Participates the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the organization.
- Manages and oversees the agency’s Quality Performance (QAPI) program.
- Supervises all patient care activities to assure compliance with current standards of accepted nursing and medical practice including, but not limited to the POC.
- Selects, employs, controls and discharges staff and develops and maintains staff policies and practices for the Hospice.
- Implement personnel employment policies to assure that only qualified personnel are hired. Verify licensure and/or certification prior to employment and annually thereafter; maintain records to support competency of all allied health personnel.
- Implement hospice policies and procedures that establish and support quality patient care, cost control, patient confidentiality and mechanisms for disciplinary action for infractions.
- Provides direction in planning, decision making and policy formulation at management meetings.
- Participates in planning the annual budget for the organization.
- Works with the Executive team to ensure the organization is functioning in the best possible way to support financial stability.
- Presents to the Board, and/or its committees, periodic reports reflecting the services and financial activities of the Hospice and such special reports as may be required by the Board.
- Ensures that the Hospice maintains accreditation, licensing and quality patient care through the establishment of performance improvement monitoring programs and standards.
- Reviews operating results of the organization compares them to established objectives and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
- Ensure clinical staff compliance with current local, state and federal laws to promote the health and safety of employees, patients and the community, using the following non-exclusive methods;
- Resolve problems;
- Perform complaint investigations;
- Refer impaired personnel to proper authorities;
- Ensure appropriate orientation and in-service training to employees;
- Ensure the development and implementation of an orientation program for new direct health care personnel;
- Ensure the completion of timely annual performance evaluations of health care personnel or designate other supervisory personnel to perform such evaluations;
- Ensure participation in regularly scheduled appropriate continuing education for all health professionals and hospice aides.
- Ensure that the care provided by the health care personnel promotes effective hospice services and the safety of the patient; and
- Ensure that the hospice policies are enforced.
- Promotes a culture of safety and quality.
- Directs continuing education and inservice programs.
