Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our team at Specialty Orthopedic Group. In this role, you will assist the physician by accurately documenting patient encounters and medical histories during consultations and procedures. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing patient care and streamlining our medical documentation processes.
Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe physician-patient encounters in real-time during examinations and procedures.
- Document medical histories, physical exams, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure all medical documentation complies with legal and regulatory standards.
- Assist with the organization of medical records and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Prepare and complete charts to send to the physician for review and approval via detailed data entry and specific procedures compliant with the location(s) serviced.
- Maintain, organize, and continuously update multiple patient charts simultaneously.
- Make and receive phone calls on behalf of physician as needed.
- Direct diagnostic testing results to physician for review and treatment as directed.
- Concentrate on the needs of the physician throughout the entire shift.
- Work under pressure, within time constraints. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
- List all proper admission or discharge diagnoses as well as follow-up care instructions as dictated by physician.
- Perform administrative duties and tasks to improve physician productivity and workflow.
- Work closely and directly with appropriate administrative teams.
- Stay updated on medical terminology and practices relevant to orthopedic surgery.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to orthopedic conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and instruction.
- Proficient in medical terminology and documentation practices.
- Excellent typing skills with attention to detail for accurate transcriptions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel with physician to satellite clinics.
