Job Description
The role of the Data Processing Programmer at SPC is to analyze client specifications and requirements in order to process data (client databases or “mailing lists”) and deliver properly processed and formatted data streams to the appropriate production equipment in the company’s manufacturing facilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with Account Managers on data job requirements such as postal specifications, data instructions, customer data mapping and any special processing requirements.
- Perform quality checks (“preflight”) on customer data on a timely basis, confirming file counts and bringing any errors or concerns to the attention of the Account Managers. Examples of issues for consideration: missing record layouts; discrepancies in file counts; file structure doesn’t comply with record layout provided or job requirements.
- Follow data job through to completion including data file receipt, postal sort, VDP page composition, output formatting, and file generation.
- Perform data hygiene tasks, including deduplication, address standardization, and National Change of Address (NCOA) processing.
- Generate and validate distribution reports (i.e.: list codes; zip code; other demographic profiling information) for required jobs using provided applications or other external software.
- Understand USPS postal specifications relating to mail piece design and automation compliance as well as address block placement and formatting in order to identify common errors in data instructions received on all mailing jobs.
- Utilize scripting languages of department applications to select and manipulate customer data per job specifications while maintaining the integrity of the output.
- Generate data “signoffs” that meet Customer requirements.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Account Managers to ensure production outputs match required press layouts and meet any additional Quality Control requirements.
- Be available on call during some production runs to accommodate for timely data changes and corrections caused by changes in equipment, customer changes, or other potential oversights.
- Independently identify any anomalies with customer input and/or processed data. Resolving issues if possible
- Ensure the secure handling of confidential client data in compliance with privacy standards.
- Note that this is an “on-call” position that does at times require availability outside of regular office hours.
Requirements
Bachelor Degree preferred computer CIS or CS, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Data Processing Programmer
- BCC Mail Manager FS and Quadient Inspire or similar software required
- Candidate must have experience and/or training working with database/list manipulation tools (i.e.: Excel, Access, SQL, etc)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
