What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at Specialty Printing, LLC?
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for performing all the functions of the shipping clerk. In addition, the Lead Shipping Clerk provides technical assistance and training for the shipping clerks as well as supervision and guidance in the managers’ absence.
Essential Functions:
Work involves most of the following:
- Perform all duties of the shipping clerk as required.
- Verify accuracy of work performed by all shipping clerks through spot checks and recounts.
- Determine the carrier to be used for LTL/TL shipments through vendor web sites.
- Prepare all shipping documentation for LTL/TL shipments (i.e., packing list, bill of lading, export documentation as required).
- Develop and publish schedule for cyclic and spot inventory counts and report results to DC Manager.
- Lead and assist shippers in all aspects of DC operations.
- Assume responsibilities of DC Manager in her/his absence.
- Assist in housekeeping in all areas. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
- Follow all required safety procedures, wear the proper safety equipment provided by the company and perform in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees.
- Enter data into the computer and assist the DC Manager as requested.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent experience is required
- One year or more of related experience working in a shipping/receiving/material handling/warehouse role is required.
- Individual must be able to competently perform each essential duty and be certified to operate forklift and other lift equipment.
- Lead and direct others.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, computer reports, stock tickets, labels and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, to perform simple math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
- Basic understanding of computers and desire to learn Company’s ERP system.

- Understand and observe all Company safety standards. Job involves constant use of hearing protection.
- Must be highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises;
- Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects;
- Ability to work over eight hours in a work day, and over 40 in a work week as necessary;
- Must be able to perform bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and lifting of equipment of at least 50 pounds.
- Use of close vision and fine motor skills to detect quality issues
- Occasional communication with supervisor or other employees.

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
