What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate position at Specialty Produce?
As a warehouse associate, you'll be responsible for handling and managing incoming Deliveries, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace. You'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse for packers and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Processing Shipments:
- Receive incoming deliveries, check-in products, inspect for bad quality and/ or damaged products, ensure quantity is accurate, correct product was received, and indicate this in the warehouse check-in system (PO Arrival)
- Unload trucks
- Label, sort, and put away products received in designated storage areas using our warehouse location management system (ZASS)
2. Storage and Inventory Management:
- Conduct regular inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
- Update inventory systems and records using warehouse Inventory and Spoilage Systems
- Properly store, label, and organize produce according to specific temperature and humidity requirements.
- Rotate stock to ensure older produce is used first (following FIFO - First In, First Out method).
- Quality Control:
- Inspect products for defects or damage before placing them on location.
- Report and address any quality issues or discrepancies with management.
4. Picking and Packing (As Needed)
- Fulfill orders by picking items from shelves or storage areas.
- Pack and prepare orders for shipment according to specific guidelines.
- Generate packing labels and coordinate with expeditor.
5. Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, especially in handling perishable items.
- Maintain compliance with food safety standards and warehouse protocols.
6. Operational Support:
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and compliant with safety and company standards.
- Assist in maintaining equipment and reporting any maintenance needs.
7. Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve common goals.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate tasks within the warehouse team.
Job Qualifications:
- Educational Requirement-High school diploma or equivalent educational attainment.
- Relevant Experience-Preferred, though not mandatory, prior experience in a warehouse or logistics setting.
- Adaptability with Technology-Proficiency or willingness to learn and operate warehouse management systems using tablets.
- Equipment Handling Proficiency-Capability to operate various warehouse machinery and equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, etc., as required for the role.
