JOB SUMMARY
The Specialized Services Field Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently cleaning silo bins and similar strutures at designated customer locations. The position’s number one responsibility is safety. He or she must be able to walk belt lines; climb ladders, catwalks and scaffolds; work in congested areas and confined spaces; as well as rotate and move equipment. The team member must also demonstrate basic hydraulic and pneumatic skills, e.g., can identify valves, motors, hoses, and understands safety procedures.
This may also involve the dislodging of built-up material from inside industrial silos using specialized hydraulic equipment such as a BinWhip device. Physical labor is involved alongside operating/steering such device inside the silos.
The Field Technician is responsible for informing the Supervisor or Operations Manager of issues related to their assigned duties.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary by the supervisor. DUTIES:
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety Program.
- Complete designated cleaning checklists as required.
- Maintain clear communication with fellow co-workers, customers, and management.
- Ensure all operational documents are completed, accurate and on time to include daily reports, estimates, and QA/QC documents.
- Learn new technical skills and processes and apply this knowledge toward solving mechanical issues and bulk flow challenges
- Safely and efficiently set up and operate a wide variety of machines and equipment
- Work effectively with a partner or team in a self-directed work environment
- Properly maintain, repair, and restock equipment, parts, and supplies as needed
- Maintain clean and orderly job sites, work areas, vehicles, and trailers
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, reach, carry, walk, sit, lie down, pull/push with hands, talk and hear, and remain alert and aware for the duration of the shift.
- Be able to operate a computer to perform daily work activities, with an understanding of basic computer software (MS Word, MS Excel) and the ability to grasp new software within reasonable time frames.
- Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and heights, bend, stoop, stretch, lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to, respirators, safety shoes, safety glasses, and hard hats.
- Have vision correctable to 20/20 for inspection activities.
- Availability to work overtime hours.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to be insured.
- Ability and willingness to travel, possibly for extended periods of time, up to 3-4 weeks.
- Ability to work in a drug and alcohol -free workplace
- Ability to lift, transport, and manipulate heavy equipment and work safely at heights
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and drive a commercial motor vehicle (trucks towing equipment trailers)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position works in conjunction with the Shop Manager for direct oversite of the designated location
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of proven successful industry-related experience is preferred, or a combination of education and experience is required.
