Company Overview:
Specified Systems, Inc. is one of the region’s most prolific erecting distributors of architectural aluminum windows, aluminum storefront and doors, low-rise aluminum curtain wall, and specialty glazings. The company covers metropolitan Pittsburgh, western PA to Erie, and what is commonly known as the “Tri-State,” which encompasses southeastern Ohio, West Virginia, and western Maryland. We work closely with architects, general contractors, and building owners to specify the right product for the required application. We do our own field engineering and sizing, generate our own shop drawings, write our own engineered orders on window projects, fabricate storefront/curtain wall/entrance doors in our Washington, PA shop, and manage our own installations.
Position: Estimator
Location: Canonsburg, PA
Core Responsibilities:
- Review quote requests to categorize and prioritize inbound requests
- Evaluate specifications, drawings, construction documents, project plans to determine project requirements
- Define scope and complete takeoffs with detailed lists of products and materials required
- Initiate requests for information of clarification as required
- Source and establish supplier cost for project materials (Glass, Aluminum Curtainwall, Storefront, Doors, Windows etc.)
- Estimate fabrication and assembly timelines and costs
- Estimate installation strategy and costs by major scope item
- Develop estimate alternates where appropriate
- Assess value engineering or cost reduction alternatives
- Develop detailed scope sheet and cost estimate for review with business development, field installation and fabrication teams
- Create and maintain estimated job folders
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure Quotes are accurate and current
- Assist with material order procurement as required
- Asist with change order price development as required
- Assist in updating and maintaining project bid calendar and pipeline
- Participate in project kickoff meetings to review and plan execution plans
- Participate in project after action review meetings to evaluate performance and explore opportunities for improvement
- Contribute ideas for improving processes related to Estimating role
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and construction documents
- Experience in estimating construction projects
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients.
- Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Proficient in BlueBeam or Adobe Pro.
- Detail oriented
- Strong ability to multi-task
Preferred Qualifications:
- Division 8 Product Experience (Doors, Windows, Curtain Wall and Storefront Glazing, Vents etc)
- Familiarity with Glazier Studio, PartnerPak, GDS.
- Glass and Glazing project management or installation experience
- Contract negotiation experience
- Autodesk Build or ProCore software
- Microsoft Teams experience
