Aero / Aerothermal Engineering Intern (3-4 months)
Job Description : This posting is a 34-month internship (All candidates must have a secret clearance)
Work at an innovative startup developing advanced full-scale hypersonic flight vehicles
Conduct detailed aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic studies
Conduct a variety of computational analyses relating to aerodynamic and aerothermodynamics
Perform flight performance assessments and trajectory optimization of hypersonic vehicles
Take part in technical meetings, engage in technical discussions, and contribute perspective
Complete meaningful engineering on federally funded research projects in collaboration with major research institutions
Actively participate in bringing the company closer to its goal of achieving hypersonic flight with plasma assisted combustion technology
Job Requirements :
For this position, it is required that applicants have :
U.S. Citizenship
Must have a secret clearance
Majoring in an engineering / sciences field. Interest in propulsion and aerospace
Technical Requirements
o Interest / experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
o MATLAB or Python scripting experience for creating analysis tools and post-processing data
o Experience working in a Linux computing environment
Soft-Skill Requirements
o Comfort with project autonomy, uncertainty, and fast-paced work environment
o Strong collaborative spirit, working well with team members in addition to other companies, laboratories, and universities
Willingness to work on both venture and defense funded projects
Desired Skills :
For this position, it is desired that applicants have :
CFD experience using CBAero, Cart3D, CFD , OVERFLOW
Grid generation for CFD simulations using Pointwise
Prior experience with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, gas dynamics, combustion, and / or plasma sciences
Background in numerical methods / FEA / CFD
