Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, reliable, and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and ensuring the safe collection and handling of blood samples. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, patient care, and medical terminology to provide high-quality service in a hospital or clinical setting.
This position is for a Phlebotomist w/ 1 year of experience to collect blood in the facility.
The shift is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am-4pm at EMC Health
Duties
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients.
- Ensure proper identification of patients before conducting blood draws.
- Maintain accurate records of blood samples collected and ensure proper labeling.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards during all procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Monitor patients' vital signs before, during, and after the procedure to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Provide excellent patient care by addressing any concerns or questions regarding the blood collection process.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and accurate test results.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology relevant to phlebotomy.
- Proficient in blood sampling techniques, including venipuncture and capillary sampling.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques and procedures related to specimen handling.
- Ability to perform vital sign assessments accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in specimen collection and documentation.
- Compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring a comfortable experience for individuals undergoing blood draws.
