TITLE: Engineer, Application in Lab
LOCATION: Hybrid in Boulder, Colorado (3 to 4 days a week in the office)
JOB TYPE: Full Time, Exempt

As a key player in Spectra’s Test Lab Group, you will focus on automated validation of emerging markets storage solutions. Day to day activities will include test planning and test case design, implementing automated test infrastructure and automated tests, tracking and reporting.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Designing test plans and test cases using a variety of technologies that are precise, accurate, repeatable, maintainable and clean.
- Help performing root cause analysis on issues found in order to resolve the issues at customer sites and in-house.
- Working closely with Engineering departments within Spectra to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to the Test group for new projects and products.
- Effectively communicating with other development groups in order to provide all necessary information needed to fix the bugs found.
- Working closely with Spectra System Engineering department in creating best practices guides for Spectra products in various environments.
- Working with Independent Software Vendors qualifying Spectra products with partner software packages.
- Independently take on a complex issue, create a test plan, provide in depth analysis of results, determine root cause, and both crisply communicate the needed Jira stories to provide engineering AND be able to articulate and defend the needed actions.
- Take on complex investigations from the Systems Architect (Technical sales) group to aid in closing customer deals – validate and support proof of concept testing in a customer environment.
YOUR EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:
- B.S. degree in an Engineering or related field or 5 years of related experience
- Intimate knowledge and experience with some combination of – implementing, managing, troubleshooting, monitoring, and analysis of:
- Enterprise networking – TCPIP, routing, tuning for speed, packet analysis, network options and environments
- Virtual and bare metal server environments – VmWare-ESXi and others
- Sysadmin and implementation of OS environments – Windows, Linux, FreeBSD
- Storage systems – NAS, S3, Tape – SMB/NFS
- File systems – ZFS primarily but experience with SAN/NAS/GPFS/Erasure coded systems/fuze systems etc
- System logging – ability to dissect system logs to troubleshoot, implementing parsing scripts as needed to monitor and provide evidence of issues
- A passion for creating world class products by applying new testing methodologies
- Strong analytical, diagnosis and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in an Agile environment where requirements and priorities can change very quickly
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Excellent multitasking skills and attention to detail
- A strong work ethic, the ability to work independently with little supervision, and share workload in team settings
BONUS IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience with HW and SW integrated solutions
- Experience with Networks: Administration, DNS configuration, Firewall configuration.
COMPENSATION:
Base salary range: $80,000 to $140,000 annually. While this salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, a candidate’s actual salary will be competitive based on a variety of factors including the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and location.
