Job Description:
- We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Service Restoration and Distribution Switching Specialist to support our electric distribution operations.
- This role is critical in managing service restoration and distribution switching activities, leveraging extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems, operations, and switching practices.
- The specialist will ensure efficient system performance, accurate reporting, and effective communication with field and office personnel during outages and restoration efforts.
- The role requires completion of the Switching Supervisor Training Program to achieve ROC switching certification within 12 months.
- This is a shift-oriented position, demanding flexibility and quick decision-making in dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform service restoration and distribution switching activities to maintain reliable electrical service.
- Apply technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems and switching practices to manage outages effectively.
- Complete and maintain accurate reports on system conditions, outages, key customer interruptions, and extended outage status.
- Communicate proactively with on-call/duty field and office personnel regarding outage status and restoration efforts.
- Participate in the Switching Supervisor Training Program to obtain ROC switching certification within 12 months.
- Support emergency response activities, including storm callouts and extended overtime as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Preferred Experience: Dispatching, emergency services, military background, complex database management, and customer service.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows applications, strong typing skills, and computer-based systems management.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to review multiple data sources to determine appropriate actions for service restoration.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong independent judgment, sound problem resolution, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership potential with the ability to manage priorities and guide team efforts effectively.
Top "Must-Have" Skill Sets:
- Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to handle constantly changing priorities.
- Proficiency in computer-based applications, including all Windows programs.
- Data analysis capabilities to interpret and act on information from various sources.
Preferred "Nice-to-Have" Skills:
- Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
- Background in electrical systems and operations.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
