What Will You Be Doing?
As a Tool Shop Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibility will be supporting the casting process by ensuring the equipment and tools are functioning optimally. This includes creating, maintaining, and repairing molds, troubleshooting, and making sure that all safety protocols are followed.
- Supporting the casting process to ensure smooth and efficient production.
- Assisting with routine maintenance on equipment and tooling.
- Reading blueprints and using CAD programs to plan and create molds.
- Constructing new tooling for molds and die-casting.
- Setting up equipment and ensuring it's appropriate for the mold design.
- Mixing modeling materials and melting metal for molds.
- Maintaining and repairing existing tooling and molds.
- Creating prototype products, fixtures, and jigs to evaluate newly created molds.
- Analyzing and correcting mold malfunctions.
- Disassembling mold tooling for cleaning and repairs.
- Ensuring all safety protocols are followed and reporting safety concerns.
- Collaborating with the team to identify areas for process improvement.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- An associate's degree in tool making or a related field is advantageous.
- Completion of an accredited mold making apprenticeship program is a plus.
- 2 years of experience in mold making or mold maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, precision measurement devices, and other shop equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good active learning, time management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to become certified in forklift and crane operation.
