Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere where students feel encouraged to learn.
- Implement on-site and community-based curriculum instruction and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with individual student goals.
- Instruct and monitor students during lessons to ensure fidelity of instruction and utilize strategies to support student learning.
- Counsel students with academic issues, providing encouragement and support to improve their skills.
- Document student behavior and progress, communicating with staff and parents as needed.
- Participate in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure site performance plans are met.
- Respond constructively to feedback and complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test passage.
- Associate degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.
- Current state driver's license or ability to obtain one.
- Licensed paraprofessional or similar credential preferred.
- Prior experience working with children, especially in special education settings.
- Skilled in working with children with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and challenging behaviors.
- Ability to think and act quickly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
- Advanced communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
