SCHEDULE: Full-time 8am-4:30pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general direction of the Billing Supervisor; process intakes, track documents, bill claims correctly and timely, research unpaid claims, correct errors and rebill claims timely to meet specific days, outstanding A/R goals, monitor the status of private pay accounts, contact appropriate personnel as necessary to generate collection of delinquent accounts, aid in the preparation and review of month end reporting, and prepare refund requests for overpaid accounts.
- Prepare claims billings account statements according to management agreements; bill insurance carriers and private pay clients according to predetermined rates/service agreements and cut-off dates; add new client information and charges to computer software and collect revenue.
- Run transaction edits, check and adjust information; post transactions to invoices and follow the process through to completion.
- Prepare bills for specific insurance carriers and certain aspects of clients on software specific to the task in a timely, accurate manner.
- Review old claims, aging denials as well as identify more complex errors and/or problems and decide how the accounts should be handled/resolved; act as a liaison between departments to initiate corrections.
- Create invoices and post transactions to client accounts and prepare monthly billings and collections balance sheet for Accounts Receivable (A/R) Supervisor in a timely, accurate manner.
- Meet specific A/R days outstanding and collection goals.
- Analyze payment reports to identify all accounts with balances; process corrections of posting errors; communicate with appropriate payers and outside agencies to resolve problems.
- Assist in collection, preparation and analysis of data to determine appropriate fees for services provided.
- Upon approval of A/R Supervisor, contact clients or responsible individuals to discuss delinquent accounts; call and/or write letters regarding unpaid or late payments of Commercial Insurance clients' accounts to diplomatically generate collections.
EDUCATION SPECIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate with some advanced courses in business or accounting as normally acquired through business or technical college certification.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of two years' accounting or billings/collection experience in a professional fast-paced office, preferably within the health care industry.
