What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Triage position at Spectrum Health Services, Inc.?
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the coordination of patient care, is an important participant in policy and procedure implementations as they relate to medical services for nursing staff
- Evaluates and assesses patients’ health care needs based on patients’ signs and symptoms utilizing established triage protocols and guidelines
- Obtains appropriate input and direction from the Provider, as needed, to determine best clinical course of action for specific patient health care
- Accurately documents patient symptoms and complaints, conducts nursing assessments.
- Follows policies, procedures and protocols to ensure consistency and departmental effectiveness
- Obtains and records patient's vital signs and weight
- Assists Providers with patient examinations
- Performs medical procedures and wound care, as needed
- Administers and documents medication administration and patient chart ( oral and intramuscular injection)
- Reviews Provider's orders, lab requests and Providers Nurse buckets
- Interviews patient to determine medical problem and documents in chart for Provider
- Assists patients with scheduling follow up appointments
- Other duties as assigned
- Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse and one year of nursing experience in Community Health Center or Allied Health field
