Job Summary

The Corewell Health Procurement team is looking for an IT Senior Contract Specialist that will act as the key contact and subject matter expert for all contract-related activities. This includes developing and negotiation contract terms, conditions, modifications, penalties and incentives while working with key stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are met. Specific areas of focus in IT will be enterprise business applications (HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal etc.). This position analyzes and evaluates changes to drive continuous improvement in the process of contract management and contract management trends. The Senior Contract Specialist leads the proactive, methodical management of agreements from initiation through execution, and renewal. Additionally, this position leads the resolution of problems, mitigation of delays, mediation of disputes and escalation of issues. Contract Specialist at this level are effective and self-sufficient in working within a diverse selection of contracts and suppliers, and regularly provide guidance and training to other Contract Specialists.

Essential Functions

Assists in the development of audit strategies to ensure all contracts remain in compliance. Continuously participates in process improvement stratifies and acts as a champion for change

Leads in the development of all assigned contracts, including but not limited to; amendments, terminations, purchase agreements, management agreements, statements of work (SOWs), and requests for proposal (RFP). Manages the contract development and negotiation process for facilities initiatives. Enters / maintains current information in the internal contract repository and system contract database

Provides mentoring to less experienced team members, and is accountable as a role model for customer service excellence

Gains knowledge on compliance and regulation changes affecting health care and works in a coordinated way with the legal and compliance departments to develop the appropriate strategies and methodologies to maintain compliance for all contracts

Creates a customer-focused, service-based approach to working with stakeholders and suppliers, which emphasizes the creation and cultivation of cross-organizational relationships

Act as the principle contract negotiator for all assigned contracts. Manages contract review meetings to ensure delivery against objectives and contract budgets; develops regular reports on contract milestones and performance; and informs internal customers, suppliers and management of activities and progress, through both verbal and written communications.

Administers commercial and financial arrangements with suppliers to include billing, invoicing, performance / penalty adjustments where appropriate. Participates in annual budget forecasting, variance tracking and internal charge backs, where appropriate

Create & improve operational processes & procedures to ensure best practices and compliance with regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting or related field

Preferred

7 years of relevant experience Negotiating and managing contract lifecycles

Experience in finance or contract management

Experience working with legal and procurement team

Skilled in best practices for contract negotiation tactics and strategies

Working knowledge of Stark and Anti-Kickback laws
