We seek a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of Center Director at our secure youth childcare institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong social work, criminal justice, or correctional administration background and a proven track record of leadership in youth residential programs or facilities.
Located in Highland Park, MI, Spectrum Juvenile Justice Services consists of a two-facility campus with a total capacity of 160 youth who are court-involved and referred through the Care Management System to receive detention and short-term treatment services in a residential environment. We support male and female youth aged 12 to 20 years old.

About the role
The Center Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the secure youth childcare center and ensures the safety, well-being, and positive development of the youth under care. This Director leads and manages a dedicated team of professionals, including managers, security, and facility operations, providing guidance and support. Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. Collaborate with external stakeholders, State of Michigan DHHS Licensing, Wayne County and Care Management Organizations, and community partners. Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Must possess a master's degree in a behavioral science, education, business administration, or public administration from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience in child caring institution or child placing agency or equivalent organization from another state or Canadian province.
- A bachelor's degree with a major in education, a human behavior science, business administration, or public administration from an accredited college or university and 4 years of post-bachelor's degree experience in a child caring institution or child placing agency or equivalent organization from another state or Canadian province.
- Minimum of 5 years of director-level administrative experience in the social services field with a minimum of five years experience in a child-caring institution is preferred.
- Must meet the following requirements: possess a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License. Complete and return a record of no findings on the DHHS Central Registry Clearance, criminal history background checks free of felony convictions, and a physical examination indicating satisfactory health status free from communicable diseases, including TB.

Spectrum Juvenile Justice Services utilizes the Forward Focus Treatment Model©, the first evidence-based clinical treatment program developed for adolescents with serious offending behaviors.
Treatment is designed to prevent recurring involvement with the legal system, promote prosocial development, and promote long-term successful life outcomes. Therapeutic Services for each youth include weekly individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and additional trauma-focused services. Reentry services include family therapy and family involvement.
