JOB SUMMARY:
The journeyman plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires a thorough understanding of plumbing codes and regulations, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and strong problem-solving skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvents, caulking, soldering, brazing, Processing.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Review all plans for compliance with local plumbing code/ ADA requirements and review specifications and drawings to determine work details and procedures.
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers, lasers, and levels.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
- Install fittings, valves, water heaters, and fixtures such as, but not limited to sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
- Install medical gas systems if certified and licensed.
- Install plumbing systems inside, outside, on the floor level, below grade, and in the ceiling.
- Knowledge of the plumbing systems being installed (sanitary, storm, domestic water, steam, condensate, etc.).
- Must own all hand tools needed to perform as a plumber as described in Spectrums tool list.
- Must be able to read a submittal for rough in for fixtures, carriers and equipment.
- Must be able to work at various heights above floor with ladder, scaffold, and manlift when required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
