Provide manufacturing engineering and technical support to other Engineering teams while working cross-functionally with Quality, Tooling Engineers, Maintenance, Process Engineers and Project Engineers as well as support the Production teams to support daily production and ensure achievement of safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost objectives.
- Actively promote and drive a culture of safety within Spectrum Plastics.
- Provide daily technical support to production to achieve department goals for safety, quality, on-time delivery, scrap, efficiency, and cost improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing methodologies to improve these same metrics.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing processes and equipment and perform root cause analyses.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes for new product introductions.
- Write and train production personnel on work instructions and procedures.
- Solve problems on the factory floor and act as the primary technical resource to resolve production issues after they have been escalated through the factory.
- Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis activities, and implementation of long-term solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Develop and implement process improvements.
- Generate and keep all manufacturing documentation up-to-date (BOM’s, specification changes, ECO’s, reports, print revisions, fixturing, protocols, etc.).
- Lead formal root cause investigations and implement resulting corrective actions in a timely manner and confirm effectiveness through statistical analysis.
- Interface with suppliers as required for incoming components, outsourced services, and new process equipment.
- Write and revise protocols and reports, both internally and externally, for validation.
- Complete process FMEA’s as required and implement and review process controls.
- Contribute as a member of Material Review Board.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B.S.) and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience; or equivalent
- Experience in a regulated industry and familiarity with the requirements for medical device manufacturing preferred
- A background or working knowledge of polymers and polymer processing (extrusion, solvent bond, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify, gather, and analyze information develop solutions and resolve problems in a timely manner.

- Highly collaborative with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Support the factory with a superior level of customer service and responsiveness.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Minitab experience highly preferred.
- CAD experience.
