Construction Surveyor - Chatsworth, CA.

JOB SUMMARY

Under moderate supervision, Survey HFC (hybrid fiber coax) plant.

This position has responsibility of performing aerial and underground inspections for identified Charter facilities, ensuring violations are identified and tracked in accordance with Public Utility Commission (PUC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Perform infrastructure survey of cable in underground and/or overhead environments using most recent company specifications and industry standards.
• Work with other Construction Technicians, in-house Technicians, as well as third-party contractors in the performance of their duties.
• Perform traffic control and/or flagging, as necessary.
• Load and unload cable equipment and tools.
• Read system prints and survey cable according to prints.
• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
• Know, understand, and follow company policies.
• Required to perform record keeping and maintain inspection records.
• During the inspection process, ensure all 3rd Party violations are identified, reported, and tracked.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
• Understand detailed PUC/Regulatory inspection compliance
• Apply relevant knowledge of Charter Communications, OSHA, Regulatory, General Orders 95 and l28 rules and like regulations
• Understand the structural and/orarc hitectural integrity of the network to successfully perform required inspection and recommend appropriate course of action

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

• 7Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, ladders, and fully loaded tool belts
• Ability to walk for long distances frequently throughout the day
• Ability to read and type on a computer
• Possess manual dexterity, the ability to see and hear to utilize and read test equipment
• Drive Company vehicle, use laptop, computer, and basic hand tools
• Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment
• Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
• Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 32 ft high and 90 pounds)
• Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
• Ability to operate appropriate computer or electronic device associated with position
• Ability to perform job from high places (i.e., poles and roofs)
• Ability to work while standing or walking 70%-90% of the time
• Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
• Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
• Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics
• Ability to navigate through city streets quickly and effectively through the use of and understanding of GPS technology
• Must be able to maintain regular attendance in adherence to Charter Communications and Regional guidelines
• Ability to interact with coworkers in a positive manner, follow directions, work rules, and accept constructive feedback

Required Education

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards

Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

• Knowledge of company products and services
• Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code
• Possess an understanding of detailed PUC/Regulatory inspection compliance
• Possess relevant knowledge of OSHA, Regulatory, General Orders 95 and l28 rules and like regulations
• Understanding of the structural and/or architectural integrity of the network to successfully perform required inspection and recommend appropriate course of action

Preferred Education

• Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E) preferred

Preferred Related Work Experience and Number of Years

• 1 years construction work experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, pets, and cleaning solutions
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Work performed near power lines and electricity
• Work performed at various heights above ground on telephone/power poles
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and late shifts if required
• Travel required as needed

Physical Requirements
