**Job Title:** Entry Level Network Construction Technician
This is an entry-level position that offers training and hands-on experience in all types of network construction, including aerial, underground, and MDU. As a key member of the construction organization, you will assist and support daily work procedures while actively contributing to simplifying and enhancing the customer experience.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for moving, securing, loading/unloading cable equipment tools, and other materials as directed by plans or supervisors. They will also dig holes, trenches, and fill them, bury conduit and cables, and perform restoration tasks. Additionally, they will pull lashers, strands, and cables from pole to pole, perform traffic control and flagging as necessary, and adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations.
The selected individual will operate and maintain crew vehicles, follow company policies and procedures, and be responsible for understanding charters strand routing and design maps, as well as Aerial, Underground, and MDU construction materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety requirements/standards
- Pull lashers, strands, and cables from pole to pole
- Dig holes, trenches, and fill them
- Bury conduit and cables
- Perform restoration tasks
- Operate and maintain crew vehicles
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus; ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
- Safe use of assigned equipment
- Safely lift 75 pounds
- Carry, climb, and operate extension ladders
- Climb poles using gaffs, hooks, and climbing belts
- Work in confined spaces
- Travel to and from assigned territories and company facilities
- Work independently and as a team
- Familiarity with computer operating systems and software applications
- Ability to complete documentation accurately
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Qualify to obtain necessary licenses required by the state
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Basic electronic testing equipment knowledge
- Prioritize and organize effectively
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to obtain CDL
