Job Summary :
The Hospitalist is expected to provide clinical care for patients admitted at our affiliated hospitals, providing support to our surgical and specialty services through consultative general internal medicine practice.
Schedule Opportunities for this position :
Monday-Friday and every 3rd weekend
Block 7 on 7 off
22 shifts a month.
Primary Functions :
- Responsible for the assessment, evaluation, and clinical management of patients in the acute facility, including performing histories and physicals, as well as conducting physical examinations.
- Diagnosis and active management of patient conditions, including evaluation and treatment, inclusive of daily patient care.
- Attend multi-disciplinary rounds at site.
- Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting.
- Prescribes or recommends pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications.
- Consults appropriate physician(s) for patient care needs.
- Refers patients to appropriate sources of care as required.
- Assures the efficient utilization of resources while supporting clinical pathway implementation and compliance.
- Assures appropriate and timely referrals to a tertiary care facility as indicated by the patient care needs in consultation with the primary care physician or attending physician.
