Job Summary
The Day / LTL Operations Manager will execute, direct, and coordinate shipments into and out of the organization.
Hours and Wages
- Exempt salary position
- Starting wage : $70,000 - $92,500 based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and ensure all day-to-day operations are completedPlan and organize daily activities related to production and operationsMeasure productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reportsEnsure customer complaints are investigated and resolvedIdentify, recommend and implement measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, work methods, and customer serviceEnforce safety, DOT, and company policiesAnalyze route performance to ensure it is being performed properly and freight is distributed appropriatelyConduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveLead weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignmentsHandle and participate in investigating employee concernsIdentify and escalate all operational concerns to appropriate managementDetermine labor needs to meet production goalsHire, train, discipline, and onboard new staffPeriodic travel may be requiredPerform other required duties as assignedSkills and Abilities
Excellent management skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to influence, develop and maintain good working relationships across a variety of functional areas and customersThorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policiesStrong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving resultsProficient with computer-based management systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar softwareEducation and Experience
At least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelor's degree in Business Management, Logistics or Operations Management or related field preferredMust hold or obtain a valid forklift certificationMust hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program3 years of experience in the transportation industry and leadership preferredPhysical Requirements
Ability to pass a DOT physical examAbility to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively and up to 100 pounds occasionallyProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerAbility to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefits
