Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years we have expanded throughout the Midwest.
Job Summary
The Lead Route Driver is responsible for leading a group of Route Drivers in their day-to-day duties.
Hours and Wages
- Monday- Friday, 7 : 00AM- completion of route
- 5 -15 hours of overtime may be required each week
- Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
- Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
- Starting wage : $21.00-$25.00 per hour, based on experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Complete routes for employees who are absentAssist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as neededAssist with the initial training period of new driversDeliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippersInspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicleLoad the truck in an organized manner to effectively use space and prevent damage to packagesCollect payments for certain packages deliveredVerify the content of pickups on shipping papersNotify management of any problems or discrepanciesMaintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicleParticipate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignmentsTravel may be requiredPerform other required duties as assignedSkills and Abilities
Ability to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learnMust possess good customer service and organizational skillsMust have leadership skills and the ability to make quick decisionsEducation and Experience
At least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredHold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standardsPhysical Requirements
Ability to pass a DOT physical examAbility to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicleAbility to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 poundsAbility to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animalsBenefits
