Job Summary
The Network Administrator will require someone with a strong background in networking who can take charge of managing and improving our phone systems, ISPs, firewalls, and switches across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have the ability to troubleshoot undocumented systems, work independently, and implement best practices to optimize network performance. In addition, they will be responsible for procuring new networking equipment, managing Pepwave wireless routers, and supporting the day-to-day operations of our network infrastructure.
Hours and Wages
- Exempt salary position
- Starting wage : $75,000-$85,000 per year, based on relevant years of experience, education, certifications, and comparison to other employees already in this role
Duties and Responsibilities
Network Management :Oversee and maintain the network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points across multiple sites
Manage undocumented or poorly documented systems, including phone systems and ISPs, by gathering information, troubleshooting, and creating proper documentationImplement and enforce network policies, security standards, and best practicesMonitor network performance, identify issues, and provide timely solutions to ensure maximum uptime, performance, and trendsPhone systems and ISP Management :Learn and manage existing phone systems, ensuring efficient communication across all sites
Maintain relationships with ISPs, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure redundancy and resilience across all locationsFirewalls and securityConfigure, monitor, and manage firewalls to protect the network from internal and external threatsConduct periodic reviews and updates to firewall rules, ensuring security best practices are followedProcurement and Equipment Management :Assess the current hardware infrastructure and recommend procurement of network equipment as needed
Source, purchase, and install new switches, routers, and other network equipment, managing the entire procurement processManage and configure Pepwave wireless routers for optimal connectivity and performanceDocumentation and Reporting :Create detailed network documentation for all sites, including phone systems, ISP configurations, and hardware setups
Provide regular reports on network health, equipment status, and upcoming needsSome travel may be requiredAbility to manage on-call duties for network emergenciesPerform other related duties as assignedSkills and Abilities
3 years of proven experience as a Network Administrator preferredStrong understanding of network architecture, protocols, and troubleshootingHands-on experience managing firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access pointsAbility to work with undocumented systems, reverse engineer configurations, and create thorough documentationFamiliarity with Pepwave wireless routers is a plusExperience with managing ISP contracts and troubleshooting connectivity issuesExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independentlyStrong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple sitesAbility to implement security best practices and maintain network integrityExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other departments and external vendorsEducation and Experience
