We are seeking a skilled Powder Coating Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating powder coating equipment to apply finishes to various metal products according to specifications. The Powder Coating Technician must have a keen eye for detail, possess strong technical abilities, and adhere to safety standards to ensure high-quality finishes.
**Responsibilities:**
1. **Powder Coating Operations:**
- Set up, operate, and maintain powder coating equipment including spray guns, ovens, and related machinery.
- Prepare metal surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying pre-treatment chemicals as necessary.
- Apply powder coating materials evenly and consistently to achieve desired thickness and appearance.
- Monitor coating process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery in good working condition.
2. **Quality Control:**
- Inspect finished products for defects such as bubbles, runs, or uneven coverage.
- Make adjustments to coating parameters as needed to correct defects and maintain quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, coating specifications, and quality control inspections.
3. **Safety and Compliance:**
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in safety training sessions and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
4. **Teamwork and Collaboration:**
- Collaborate with colleagues in the production department to coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to address issues and implement improvements.
**Requirements:**
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in powder coating operations preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and equipment operation.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to lift and move heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
