**Job Summary**
The Lead CDL Driver leads a group of CDL Drivers in their daily duties.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Complete routes for absent employees
- Assist drivers with daily morning duties, such as sorting freight, loading trucks, and other tasks as needed
- Support new driver training periods
- Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
- Inspect and report any vehicle mechanical problems
- Collect payments when necessary
- Verify pickup content on shipping papers
- Notify management of any issues or discrepancies
- Maintain professional personal appearance and vehicle cleanliness
- Attend weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
- Travel may be required
- Perform additional assigned duties
**Requirements**
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Must possess or obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
- Good customer service and organizational skills required
- Leadership skills and quick decision-making abilities necessary
**Physical Requirements**
- Pass a DOT physical exam
- Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight on and off the company vehicle
- Lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
- Work with various types of freight, including hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
