What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at Speedwell Construction?
Summary/Objective:
An Assistant Superintendent typically has experience in some construction and has demonstrated a good understanding of common building practices. They have also demonstrated potential in leadership and emotional intelligence and can be trusted to complete certain administrative tasks. An Assistant Superintendent has a basic knowledge of construction techniques and a conscientious attitude toward controlling costs and adhering to progress schedules. They will divide their time between putting work in place and learning how to manage a commercial construction project.
Essential Functions:
- Performs required skilled work in a variety of trades
- Identifies and holds all subcontractors to the OSHA and Speedwell Safety Standards while promoting and encouraging safe work practices and rectifying job site hazards immediately, including reporting any issues to the Superintendent or PM
- Obtains high-quality workmanship throughout all phases of work on a project and assists with adherence to drawings and specifications by all trades as directed by the Superintendent or PM
- Assists the Superintendent with a review of plans and specifications before and during a project to ensure that all information is supplied for on-time completion of the job
- Cares for and maintains all the company equipment and tools utilized by self and crew members
- Promotes a favorable impression of Speedwell Construction in all relationships with contractors, customers, employees, and the general public
- Maintains an organized job site, including the construction office
